You do not start a fight over what is right, not a physical conflict, but you need to stand up for what is right and make sure it is known that it is the right thing. What Woodrow Wilson means by this quote is, he will not start a battle over something that is right but he will do his best to make sure that the right thing is done.

An example for this is, Equal rights for all races, this is something someone who fights for the right will fight for, because all humans were created equality and we’re all meant to live it equally.
